Summer Training School
Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment - NKUA
The main aim of this training school is to introduce scientists and postgraduate students the geology, geoarchaeology and mineral resources of Samos and adjacent Aegean islands. Samos was selected because of its significant and unique geology and its evolution throught the geological time. Through this training school, attendees will have the opportunity to widen their knowledge and experience by connecting the theoretical background with what they meet on the field.
Additionally, attendees will gain a wider knowledge in the multidisciplinary subjects of the geosciences, materials and ancient constructions.
The programme of the training school will focus on training scientists through lectures and fieldwork. The first two days, 26-27/8/2013, will be devoted on lectures related to the subjects that will be addressed during fieldwork, and will allow participants to get acquainted with Samos and the Aegean Sea. From 28-30/8/2013, a three-days field work programme will be implemented in significant sites of Samos island.
